11 best watched South African Hip Hop videos in 2015

11 best watched South African Hip Hop videos in 2015

In multiple countries in Africa the Hip Hop scene is big. South Africa probably has the biggest Hip Hop music scene with multiple big artists. The best watched videos of 2015 are in this list and it’s very clear that some of those artists are really at the top because you can see them more than once in the list. It’s interesting to see that some of these hits are really group efforts with multiple artists in it. The artists don’t only work together wtih other rappers from South Africa. They work together with artists from all over the African continent. The biggest hits are made with artists from Nigeria. But we also see a collaboration with an artist from the USA. So give it up for the SA hip hop artists and check out the list. Don’t forget to also check out the newest African Hip Hop tracks we’ve put in a list. If you also want to hear some house music from 2015 out of South Africa then also check out this post.

11. Cassper Nyovest – Mama I Made It

‘Mama I Made It’ was the first single of Cassper Nyovest‘s second album ‘Refiloe’. The only track that made this list but he shot a lot of videos for this album. We posted the last two singles ‘War Ready’ and ‘Malome’. The track is produced by Ganja Beatz. In the track you can hear Cassper bragging about the things he realized. Of course his mom is getting a S/O. Simple hook with a dope beat.

10. Riky Rick – Boss Zonke

Riky Rick is a rapper and producer. The track ‘Boss Zonke’ is also self-produced. In 2015 he released his first album ‘Family Values. One of the hits of this album was this track. In this track Riky is rapping in English and his local language. He raps over a simple but effective beat.

9. K.O – One Time Ft. Maggz, Masandi & Ma-E

The track ‘One Time’ was K.O‘s sixth music video for his album ‘Skhanda Republic’. He dropped this album in 2014 and had multiple big hits. This is the first one we see in the list of best watched  Hip Hop videos of 2015. To make this track he asked the help of Maggz, Masandi and Ma-E. K.O also co-produced this track. Other producers are Lunatik and Wandile Moya.

8. Cassper Nyovest – Ghetto Ft. DJ Drama & Anatii

You can see Cassper Nyovest is working hard. This is his second video in this list. But the interesting this is that the single ‘Ghetto’ comes from his debut album ‘Tsholofelo’ that he dropped in 2014. This album has 19 tracks and a year later Cassper came with another album that has 20 tracks! For ‘Ghetto’ he went international. DJ Drama from the USA hosted this track. Anatii is on the hook and produced this track. In this track you can hear Cassper rap about bringing a girl to his Ghetto.

7. Dj Citi Lyts – Washa ft Fifi Cooper, Emtee & B3nchMarQ

Ambitiouz Entertainment just taught let we drop a video of DJ Citi Lyts with and let some rappers from the label drop some bars. This is what happened with the track ‘Washa’. Fifi Cooper, Emtee and B3nchMarQ all are signed to the label Ambitiouz Entertainment and this joint effort is a hit. This track has a US vibe and is also almost totally rapped in English. It will do good in the clubs.

6. L-Tido – Dlala Ka Yona

In 2015 L-Tido came back with the single ‘Dlala Ka Yona’. It directly became his biggest. The track was produced by Tweezy. The dope beat is making you bounce and the lyrics are easy to sing along. The track is about a girl and you can see a lot of hot girls in the video.

5. Emtee – Roll Up

‘Roll Up’ was the first single of Emtee‘s debut album ‘Avery’. It was a smart move to make this the first single because it became a big hit and since this track Emtee  is one of the biggest Hip Hop stars in South Africa. Also it won the song of the year award at the SA Hip-Hop Awards. The banger was produced by Ruff. The funny thing is that Ruff actually wanted to sell the beat to someone else but Emtee made a deal with him. Now you can say a very good deal. This is what good trap music sounds like.

4. K.O – Skhanda Love Ft. Nandi Mngoma

This is the second time K.O made this list. This time with a love ballad with songstress Nandi Mngoma. The track ‘Skhanda Love’ is just like the other track in this list produced by K.O himself and Lunatik and Wandile Moya. They got the gangsta love in this track and is a typical Hip Hop love track with a singing hook and some sweet verses.

3. Riky Rick x Cassper Nyovest x Anatii – FUSEG

‘FUSEG’ is a way to say ‘go away’ in a very impolite way. The track is also very impolite. Three of the best South African rappers Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest and Anatii on one track and it is a banger. In just a few hours it became a number 1 hit on iTunes. Anatii also produced this track. One of the best tracks in this list if you ask us. Hot beat, great lyrics and a good hook. What can we ask more?

2. AKA – Baddest Ft. Burna Boy, Khuli Chana & Yanga

The most popular rapper from South Africa is AKA and with the video of ‘Baddest’ he just lived up to his status. He asked Burna Boy, Khuli Chana & Yanga for some help and made on of the best watched videos of the year. AKA also made a remix of this track with the hottest Female MCs of South Africa. This track has a Hip Hop and R&B vibe to it. The guys are singing and rapping on this song. The hook is very catchy and that is important for a hit of course.

1. Emtee – Roll Up (Remix) Ft. Wizkid & AKA

For the remix of ‘Roll Up’ Emtee did something big. He asked the most popular act from South Africa, AKA, and from Nigeria, Wizkid, to make a remix of his hit. And it even became a bigger hit. Of course the guys are all bragging.  Funny to see Wizkid on a trap song because normally we can hear him on other types of beats. AKA also delivers and Emtee has two decent verses. On moments the song sounds like Migos – One Time. They are definitely influenced by that track.

In 2015 K.O also made a track with Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania. This international collaboration is an interesting track because it has multiple languages on one track. The video now has more than 1 million views.
